About
Christina Merlos Psy.D
Post Doctoral Fellow
Hello and welcome! I am a Post-Doctoral Psychological Associate with extensive
and varied experience working with diverse populations, deeply rooted in my
identity as an SF Bay Area native. My professional background includes working
with children, adults, and geriatric populations, guiding individuals through major
life changes such as terminal illnesses, cancer, grief after loss, parenting
challenges, and overall mental health struggles in today’s complex world.
I have worked extensively with children with special needs, as well as adults
facing various challenges, including traumatic brain injuries, terminal illnesses,
and other medical complications. In addition to these areas, I have provided
support to adults dealing with substance use disorders and have experience
working in transitional housing settings.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, grounded in psychodynamic theory, with a
focus on offering both insight and compassionate support during life’s most
difficult moments. I view my role as a witness and facilitator of transformative
change, assisting clients in navigating the complexities of mental health and
finding pathways to healing. I believe that therapeutic work can foster both
emotional resilience and growth, allowing clients to achieve greater well-being in
both mind and body.
My ultimate goal as a therapist is to support individuals in reaching full
health—holistically addressing their emotional, psychological, and physical needs.
I am honored to accompany clients on their journeys, providing support through
suffering and encouraging the possibility of transformation and healing.
