Aisha Mohammed-Swan, Ph.D., Psy.D
Post Doctoral Fellow
Welcome. I am honored to take this journey with you. You have a valued and important place in this world and I look forward to helping you navigate and resolve your presenting issue. I have 18 years of experience, in NY and CA. My work centers around serving individuals with anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, panic disorder, trauma, PTSD, obsessive compulsive disorder, among other mental health challenges. I provide specialized sessions for stress management, depression recovery, survivors of domestic violence, reentry, and holistic healing/health.
We are all vulnerable to obstacles that may interfere with our functioning, capacity to grow and letting our true light shine. Respect, honor, and acknowledgement are integral parts of therapy, I will always honor the space that we hold. I find one’s growth and healing journeys to be an inspiring testimony of the resilience of the human spirit. I advocate for empowering the unique and beautiful insights and abilities that each person brings to this world. Often one can lose sight of these; I seek to help individuals and couples reconnect and fully realize their potential.
Treatment approaches I utilize are: psychodynamic, solution-focused, person-centered counseling, positive psychology, compassion focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, integrative therapy, and strength based interventions. I am certified in mindfulness, life coaching, trauma informed care, behavioral management, restorative justice/ healing circles, conflict resolution, and couples/relationship mediation. I’m also trained in EMDR, an effective and powerful therapeutic modality to treat trauma.
I participate in organizations that advocate for human rights & social justice, and advocate for an end to all oppression & racism. In my spare time, I enjoy my family, photography, concerts, nature, martial arts classes, volunteering/charity work, and working on my book and spoken word projects.
